What do settlement agents do?
Settlement Agents, also known as Conveyancers, are responsible for transferring property ownership from one party to another, whether they’re working for the seller or buyer.
Agents will ensure paperwork is complete, and lodged by the due date. They will follow up the performance of general and special conditions relating to the Contract of Sale, dealing with your mortgage lender and relevant government departments. Additionally, they will notify rating authorities of the property transfer, ensure outstanding costs are paid, and attend settlement on your behalf.
